Corporate responsibility

Ipsos, Member of the United Nations Global Compact

On 19 November 2008, Ipsos was the first international research company to join the United Nations Global Compact. Through this initiative, Ipsos will embrace, support and implement principles that support the community, environment, human rights and labour standards. By adhering to the United Nations Global Compact, Ipsos is demonstrating its long term commitment to expand and grow responsibly, i.e. in ways that benefit local economies and societies.

Taking Responsibility

In 2009, Ipsos also initiated a global program - Taking Responsibility. Its objective is to promote initiatives beneficial to the environment and the community across the 64 countries where Ipsos is present.

The three stands of the program are Volunteering, Fundraising and Environmental practices.

  • “Paint the town” – employees paint the properties of people with special needs in the US
  • 30 reading partners for local schools in the UK
  • Time for Aids organisation in the Caribbean and Central America
  • Blood donation in China and Australia
  • Donation to organisations for disabled people in Japan
  • Fees donated from conference to a computer and language laboratory for the Street
  • Kids Rehabilitation Association in Turkey
  • Various fundraising events supporting homeless and children’s charities in Canada

All together, volunteering and fundraising initiatives represented over 1 million euros.

Additionally:

  • In the UK, replacing 1,000 PCs enabled to saving 100 tons of CO2, the equivalent to planting 60 trees
  • The Ipsos virtual server program (274 to date, versus 824 physical servers) has already been saving over 1,000 tons of CO2...and saving $137,000 in electricity.

Our ambition for upcoming years

Establish formal CSR policies in each of its 64 countries
Increase 10-fold the level of fundraising and volunteering
Identify and support a global cause
