Technology is advancing at a faster rate than ever before.

The internet, which only reached 10% of the world’s population in 2003, now defines much of the agenda of the media, content and technology worlds. There were almost 5 billion mobile phone subscribers across the world at the end of 2009 – four times as many as in 2002, which was also the year the number of mobile subscribers surpassed the number of fixed line customers.

Companies traditionally associated with phone services are getting into the content business; internet service providers are getting into the radio business and manufacturing mobile handsets. Media companies are embracing new platforms to distribute their content.

The technology industry is one of the world’s most dynamic and fastest growing business sectors, embracing fixed line, mobile and internet service providers, PC and other device manufacturers, software providers, VoIP services, consumer electronics makers and regulators - to name but a few.

Ipsos’ history working with clients in these sectors has enabled us to help them understand better how consumers access and share content across various distribution platforms and which factors drive their distribution preferences. Recent projects include work on peoples’ usage of different technologies, as well as projects covering pricing, content and service preferences and analysis of the retail environment.
