Emotions are physiological reactions to a stimulus.

Psychologists distinguish between emotions, feelings and moods.  

Emotion is a "physiological reaction to a stimulus". Primary emotions comprise Fear, Anger, Disgust, Displeasure, Surprise, Pleasure.

Feelings are the "mental experience of emotion", e.g. Amusement, Embarrassment, Guilt, Pride, Relief, Shame.

Mood is a "diffused and unfocused" emotional state about general expectations of positive or negative affect in the future, e.g.  anguish, anxiety.
