Feelings is the conscious or subjective experience of emotion, its "mental and private experience". Psychology makes distinctions between affective reactions (affect): Emotion (visceral/bodily), feelings and mood.

Feelings are experienced in response to a particular stimulus, situation or event and can be of high positive or negative intensity. In comparison, moods are more diffuse affective states and generally of low intensity.​
