The Swiss push for a European solution to migration issues.
A recent Ipsos Swiss poll conducted for Le Temps shows that the migration situation in Switzerland is perceived as very concerning by 41% of the Swiss people. Older people (from 55 years old) and those from German speaking regions are more worried than younger people (18-34 years old) and those from French speaking regions about the migration situation in Switzerland. Overall, 66% state that migration will have an influence on their voting decision.
In September, during the survey on climate change, a quarter of the Swiss (24%) declared that control on immigration was one of their main concerns. Ipsos’ What Worries the World study conducted in 29 countries allows us to determine that this theme concerns Western Europeans more often and is aligned with results observed in Switzerland: 34% of people in Germany select immigration control as one of their main concerns, 29% in the United Kingdom, 29% in the Netherlands, 25% in Belgium, 23% in France, and 20% in Italy.
