Javier Calvar - Group Service Line Head, Ipsos in Hong Kong

Javier CalvarJavier leads a group of our Service Lines in Hong Kong: Market Strategy & Understanding and Customer & Employee Experience.  He has been with Ipsos for over a decade (aside from a short break to go back to business school), having previously held senior roles with Ipsos in Greater China and the UK. Prior to joining Ipsos, Javier held managerial roles with Kantar in London, Shanghai and then as Head of their Consumer Division across Hong Kong and Singapore. He spent 17 years of his career in mainland China.

A chartered management consultant, Javier has been involved in a wide range of projects for clients across different sectors, helping brands identify new growth opportunities and develop go-to-market strategies to realise such opportunities.  He a strong advocate of strategies that deliver for all stakeholders – consumers, businesses, and the wider community.

Javier is a seasoned public speaker, having presented at ESOMAR, The Economist Branding Roundtable, the China Market Research Association, and other fora.  He has guest-lectured at top-ranking business schools including Harvard Business School, Kellogg School of Management, Warwick University Business School,  Emylon Business School, and the International Fashion Academy.   Importantly, Javier is also passionate about giving back, putting his knowledge and experience to the benefit of non-for-profit organisations. He is an adviser at the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (SEED) and was previously a board member of the Stanford Alumni Association in Shanghai. He is also a mentor with the Chartered Management Institute and Middlesex University.
