Cross-Cutting Approaches

Effective research and evaluation must be deeply attuned to the human experience and the environments in which they occur. We integrate specialized lenses across all of our sectoral work—whether we are driving social behaviour change, championing gender equality and inclusion, or adapting our methods to operate safely in fragile and crisis settings. These overarching approaches ensure our insights are not only rigorous, but also equitable, context-sensitive, and actionable.

• Social behaviour change & communications (SBCC): We develop behaviour change strategy, communications testing & optimization, campaign design & evaluation, and social norms & behavioural insights.
• Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI): We integrate gender and inclusion into our MEL & research work, assessing outcomes for women, girls and marginalised groups, including people living with disabilities, to support equitable and inclusive programme design.
• Humanitarian & fragile contexts: We work safely and with strong duty of care in fragile and crisis settings, using adaptive, context-sensitive approaches to assess effectiveness, accountability and resilience of humanitarian and recovery programmes.
