Japan and Taiwan: Top Travel Destinations for Hong Kong Residents Aged 18-29:

Japan (29%) and Taiwan (21%) are the most travelled destinations of aged 18-29 this summer.According to the survey, Japan and Taiwan emerged as the most popular travel destinations for Hong Kong residents aged 18-29 this summer. Among respondents in this age group, a significant 29% chose Japan as their preferred destination, while 21% opted for Taiwan. These countries offer vibrant cultures, historical landmarks, and unique experiences that attract young Hong Kong travelers seeking adventure and exploration.

Mainland GBA Cities - A Popular Choice Among Hong Kong Residents Aged 18-64:

17% or 840,000 aged 18-64 HK people have travelled to a mainland GBA cities this summer – over 80% visited Shenzhen.The survey also shed light on the travel preferences of Hong Kong residents aged 18-64, revealing that 17% from this age group traveled to mainland GBA (Greater Bay Area) cities this summer. The GBA encompasses a cluster of cities, including Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Remarkably, over 80% of these travelers chose Shenzhen as their primary destination. The proximity and ease of travel between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, along with the city's vibrant tech scene and shopping opportunities, contribute to its popularity among Hong Kong residents.

Expenditure Patterns: HK$1300 per Trip in GBA: 

On average, each person spent HK$1300 per trip to GBA on shopping, dining and transport this summer – over $1 billion in total. In terms of expenditure patterns, the survey findings indicate that Hong Kong residents spent an average of HK$1300 on shopping, dining, and transportation during their visits to GBA cities this summer. With approximately 840,000 individuals traveling to GBA cities, the total expenditure amounted to over HK$1 billion. This significant spending highlights the economic impact of Hong Kong residents' travel activities within the GBA region.
