CORONAVIRUS: OPINION AND REACTION - RESULTS FROM A MULTI-COUNTRY POLL FEB, 2020

Key insights from Pakistan; A recent survey that was conducted in February 2020 among many countries to collect a snapshot on the perception of people considering Coronavirus a threat to their family, country and World and precautions should be taken to curb the virus.

•    7 in 10 Pakistanis say they have seen, heard, or read a great deal or fair amount about the outbreak.
•    About half (49%) of Pakistani Adults say the coronavirus poses a high or very high threat to the world and just over one-third (35%) say the virus is a high or very high threat to Pakistan itself. This sentiment of threat reduces to 29% when Pakistanis are asked about their family and friends
•    An overwhelming majority (74%) Pakistanis are optimistic that the coronavirus outbreak has been contained and will soon be over
•    72% Pakistanis have shown their confidence in World Health Organisation (WHO) that it is prepared and can effectively deal with the coronavirus. Encouraging to learn that over 6 in 10, put similar trust in Pakistan government and other local healthcare services.
•    In response, there is widespread support for significant actions to control the virus. On average, seven in ten (71%) Pakistanis agree to wear a face mask. 57% of people agree the government should ban travel to and from impacted countries, and 47% opine to wash hands more often.
