The majority (97%) in Qatar are familiar with the term sustainability, where it is primarily linked to the usage of renewable energy sources.
When it comes to sustainability-positive actions, 96% have taken steps that are linked to a more sustainable lifestyle, such as recycling, using low-energy lightbulbs, and reducing plastic usage. While 9 in 10 are prepared to make lifestyle compromises to benefit the environment, around half are not sure what they can do to make a difference when it comes to climate change.
In terms of corporate responsibility, 48% believe that companies in Qatar are not doing enough to support sustainability and ethical best practices. However, household goods manufacturers and oil & gas companies are thought to be the most active on sustainability. Moreover, when it comes to taking responsibility for the cost of sustainable actions, 3 in 5 think that governments should bear the cost. On the other hand, 15% are willing to bear the costs themselves.
