Ipsos in Nigeria Sports Day
“All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy”. This is why Ipsos in Nigeria organized a friendly football match among its staff on Friday, 20th July, 2018. The event was inspired by the just concluded World Cup tournament and is one of the many ‘inter & intra house’ activities (all staff members belong to one of three houses - Yellow, Orange & Green) lined up for the year, which are tailored towards team bonding and building of an exciting workplace.
The event took place at the sports field of Tunwase High School, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja and commenced at 2:10pm with an instructor-led aerobics session. Despite the wet weather, members participated in the session as they followed the rhythmic movements of the instructor against the stimulating background music.

After the 30-minute warm-up exercise, the football players representing the 3 houses convened to separate corners to motivate themselves and devise strategic plans of action.
The tournament kicked off with the first round of matches ending with a draw score line for all teams. Green House played first against Yellow House and ended with 1-1 draw, and later Green House challenged Orange House with no goals scored for both teams. Orange House and Yellow House also ended the first round with a draw.
With more motivation to score goals and win, the second round of matches proved more interesting in terms of players’ agility and technique. Yellow House won the first match against Green House, 2 goals to 1, while Green House defeated Orange House with 3 goals to 1. With encouragement from the previous game, Yellow House garnered confidence to win the final match with 2 goals to Nil against Orange House, thereby winning the tournament. Green House bagged 2nd Place while the 3rd Place went to Orange House.
At the end of the tournament, medals were given to Orange, Green and Yellow House team players and captains by Ibitayo Salami, Tokunbo Johnson-Ajala, and Country Manager, Chris Githaiga respectively.

The Yellow House champions closed the event with celebration and myriad of photographs taken with their well-deserved trophy.
Like all other activities executed under the Ipsos in Nigeria house games, the Sports Day was a memorable one which delivered on its aim of fostering collaboration and esprit de corps amongst staff through healthy competition and loads of fun!
