A NEW global study carried out in 27 countries by Ipsos in the UK, in collaboration with the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at King’s College London for International Women’s Day shows men and women remain divided about gender equality in the workplace.

The most important issue facing women and girls in South Africa is sexual violence, a topic which both women and men agree. When the results of 28 countries are considered, this is the second most important issue (28%) in the world, while sexual harassment tops the international list (32%).

Looking at the history of perception tracking in society, Ipsos has uncovered recent improvements in the overall perceptions of women and the role of women in South Africa.
