Poverty & social inequality continues to be the greatest concern worldwide. We start the year with 61% globally saying that things in their country are heading in the wrong direction, up four points on 12 months ago.
It is no secret that media consumption is changing fast. While mass media continue to dominate, some alternative formats are rapidly growing in popularity.
Globally, just 39% think their country is heading in the right direction. The top worries globally are unemployment, crime/violence, financial/political corruption and poverty/social inequality.
38% around the world think their country should never break international laws on human rights. However, 21% think their country should break these laws in extreme circumstances and 22% think international laws should only be one factor their country takes into account.

This survey was conducted in 28 countries around the world via the Ipsos online panel system, including ten countries within Europe (Belgium, France, Germany,Great Britain,Hungary, Italy, Poland, Serbia, Spain and Sweden) .Throughout these slides, we refer to these countries as either the EU 10 or the EU 9, with the latter in recognition that Serbia is not a member the European Union .
