Ipsos & Mondelēz: A Success Story
Cocoa Life is Mondelēz International’s global cocoa sustainability program, which aims to help tackle the complex challenges that cocoa farmers face in eight sourcing countries, including risk of poverty, risk of child labour, gender inequality, and climate change.
With many involved stakeholders and interests in supply chain management, Mondelēz International wanted an independent organization to verify, measure and report on the program's impact and help understand where they can continue to improve.
For 8 years, Ipsos has evaluated Cocoa Life by conducting impact studies. Data is collected using surveys, farm observations, and qualitative interviews.
Ipsos’ expertise and insights allowed Mondelēz International to:
- Assess the program's impact on farmers' income and community resilience.
- Optimize strategies to maximize the program's effectiveness.
- Effectively differentiate in the sector with a sustainable and measurable approach.
The Result?
Cocoa Life has shown positive results in its first decade, reinforcing Mondelēz International's commitment to help make cocoa sourcing more sustainable in key cocoa-producing countries by 2025. This success story showcases the power of social research, giving businesses, governments, and public bodies the confidence they need to take the right actions and continue to help farmers earn more, enhance child protection systems, and protect and restore forests.
“The Ipsos studies and learning sessions are always very well prepared, delivering clear and helpful facilitation. At the same time, Ipsos remains flexible to react to any changes in-the-moment which has been a lifesaver more than once. A great team we enjoy partnering with! ”
