Spotlight*Egypt: Views on Food and Health

Despite widespread self-perceptions of good health in Egypt, certain unhealthy behaviors continue to be common.

In this report of the Spotlight*Egypt series, we address the topic of food and health in the country. The report reveals that even though 7 in 10 Egyptians believe they’re in good health and a majority demonstrate healthy habits such as exercise and healthy food consumption, a significant portion still indulge in unhealthy eating habits. These include consuming fizzy drinks on a weekly basis (61%) and having unhealthy snacks several times a week (58%).

Interestingly, these unhealthy eating habits have shown a decline since 2020, indicating a possible shift towards a healthier lifestyle among Egyptians.
