The survey data that we are collecting will be used to plan transport infrastructure and investment, nationally and in your local area, based on the actual travel behaviour of Irish households.

  • The National Transport Authority (NTA) is a statutory non-commercial body, which operates under the aegis of the Department of Transport. Established in 2009, the NTA is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to provide high quality, accessible, sustainable transport across Ireland. More detailed information about our activities is available at www.nationaltransport.ie and www.transportforIreland.ie.

A total of 4,000 households nationwide have been selected at random to represent the travel patterns of the entire country. Each household is asked to complete a household diary and a travel diary should be completed for all members of the household aged 4 years and over.

If your household has been selected to participate please note that any information given by you and other household members in this survey will be used solely for the purposes of research into people’s travel behaviour and travel needs. No personal information given by you or other members of your household will be retained by the National Transport Authority.

If you have any queries at all, just call Ipsos on freephone 1800 832000 or on 01 4389000 during office hours to speak to a member of the Ipsos research team.
