Ipsos in Italy & Ipsos Foundation for India
Ipsos in Italy clients and staff and the Ipsos Foundation have raised funds to create a vocational center in the region of Varanasi, India.
Every year, this center will allow between 300 and 500 children of this region to reach economic independence and the dignity of qualified labour, a Game Changing opportunity that can truly modify the life perspectives of thousands of children, contributing also to fight against child marriage.
In the center, basic English and basic computer skills will be taught, young girls will be trained in traditional arts such as tailoring, Jardoshi (Traditional embroidering of silk shawls used in ceremonies) and traditional matrimony make-up, and young boys will learn how to repair electrical home appliances and cell phones.
Considering the breadth of the project, a co-funding approach was chosen in line with our collaboration value. The Ipsos Foundation committed to matching 1 euro for every euro collected by Ipsos Italy from local clients, colleagues and personal contacts.
Ipsos in Italy has succeeded in collecting an important amount through donations from various stakeholders and clients. Thanks to the Ipsos Foundation's contribution, an additionnal will be available to purchase the land and build the training center.
Construction work will begin in the next few weeks, with the aim of having the center operational by the end of 2018.
