Asians share great relationship with spouse/partner, feel loved, but satisfaction with romance lower
In the lead up to Valentine’s Day, global market research company, Ipsos polled citizens across 32 countries to understand how satisfied they are with their love lives. These are the findings from the 9 APAC countries covered in this global study – Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and South Korea.
The survey revealed that Asian citizens were most satisfied with the relationship and bonhomie shared with their spouse/ partner, followed by the feeling of being loved, but satisfaction with romance and sex life was comparatively lower.
The State of Love in Singapore
In Singapore, 83% of citizens say they are satisfied with their relationship with their spouse or partner. This is more strongly felt by men with 89% of them claiming satisfaction, and a lower 75% of women who said so.
When it comes to feeling loved, 75% of Singaporeans, (78% among men, 72% among women) say they are satisfied, but fewer say they are satisfied with their romantic or sex life (65% among men, 67% among women, 66% average).
The View Across the APAC Region
My Relationship with my Spouse/Partner
Taking a closer look at where Singaporeans stood among the 8 other countries surveyed in the Asia Pacific, the study revealed the country most satisfied with their relationships were Indonesia (94%) and Thailand (90%). Much fewer claimed satisfaction with their relationships in South Korea (73%) and Japan (70%).

Feeling Loved
When it comes to feeling loved, 76% of global citizens polled said they feel loved. In APAC, the markets that felt most loved were Indonesia (87%), China (84%). South Korea (53%) and Japan (49%) displayed polarized view with only 1 in 2 say they feel loved.
My Romantic / Sex Life
On romance and sex, there was a general lower satisfaction across the region. Markets most satisfied by the levels of romance in their lives were China (79%), Indonesia (75%), Thailand (75%) and India (69%). Mediocre degree of romance existed in Australia (61%) and Malaysia (57%). While the markets with lowest satisfaction with romance were Japan (34%) and South Korea (44%).
