Community Ethnography
The insider's perspective
Community-based ethnography is ideal for situations where conventional recruitment methods are unlikely to meet the need. Rather than recruiting individual participants, we recruit one participant and train them in ethnographic methods. This engaged informant becomes our "eyes on the ground", speaking to their community, family and friends, and filming their day-to-day experiences and interactions. The research is invaluable for:
- Creating a foundational understanding of communities, markets and cultures
- Investigating culture from the local perspective; removing external assumptions and biases
- Accessing and speaking to people who would otherwise be impossible to reach
