Toronto, Ontario -- According to the results of an Angus Reid/CFRB/Globe and Mail/Global Television poll conducted among 600 residents of the City of Toronto, Torontonians overwhelmingly approve of the performance of Mayor Mel Lastman. More than eight in ten (84%) Torontonians say they approve (37% strongly, 47% somewhat) of Mel Lastman's overall performance as Mayor. Even on specific issues, Mayor Lastman enjoys approval ratings that would be the envy of many politicians, with no rating lower than 69 percent. As a whole, 80 percent of Torontonians feel that City Council is on the "right track".
These are the findings of an Angus Reid/CFRB/Globe and Mail/Global Television poll conducted between February 15th and February 20th 2000. The poll is based on a randomly selected sample of 600 adult residents of the City of Toronto. The results are within 1774.0 percentage points, 19 times out of 20, of what they would have been had the entire population of the City of Toronto been polled. The margin of error will be larger within regions and for other sub-groupings of the survey population. These data were statistically weighted to ensure the sample's regional and age/sex composition reflects that of the actual population of the City of Toronto according to the 1996 Census data.
