Ipsos MRBI Omnipoll research for the Irish Cancer Society conducted in August shows that 92% of the Irish population are aware of the link between sunbeds and skin cancer. Other notable findings include:
- 4% of the population have used a sunbed in the past year, with 8% of 15-24 year olds and 9% of 25-34 year olds.
- 8 in 10 (80%) believe that sunbeds pose a high risk of skin cancer.
- Over half of sunbed users (51%) use one at least once every two months.
This research was conducted as part of Ipsos MRBI’s Omnipoll service which interviews a fresh sample of 1,000 adults in Ireland aged 15+ every two weeks. Respondents were interviewed via telephone. Ipsos MRBI, in partnership with Nutricia Medical and The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland, have been honoured with Research Excellence Awards 2017 from the Marketing Society in two categories, Public Policy and Social Research and the overall Grand Prix winner.
