Ipsos Celebrates 40 years of Research Insights
The French Market Research company celebrates their 40th Anniversary with events in their 87 global offices, including Malaysia.
Malaysia – Started in 1975 in Paris, France, today Ipsos has more than 16,500 employees in 87 countries worldwide and is one of the largest Market Research companies in the world. Through the decades, Ipsos has been proud to be the only global market research company that is still controlled and operated by market researchers.
Didier Truchot, founder of Ipsos comments, “When I started the company 40 years ago with three other people, it was a very tiny French boutique research company. Currently, many of our clients are facing some interesting changes. One major change is that people are changing; in general, they are more educated and more connected. They feel like they have more power in their choices, like where they want to put their money. Markets are becoming more competitive: we have seen the development of global companies to get new consumers in every market. Lastly, the development of digital channels has created a fragmentation: this has created some opportunities to engage with people differently.
It’s a totally new world. This year, as we turned 40 we launched The New Way, new chapter in Ipsos’ story, a vision for a very different and ever-changing world.
Times change. The world changes. So does Ipsos”
The Ipsos Malaysia office houses over 300 employees, including a full-fledged operations and quality control division, and many global analytic and management hubs. Started in 1997 as AMI (Asia Market Intelligence), the company was rebranded as Synovate in 2003. In 2011, Ipsos merged with Synovate to create the third largest market research firm in the world and the Malaysia office has been operating under the Ipsos brand name since.
“When AMI first opened in Malaysia, 18 years ago, with 5 employees, Malaysia was a very different place, and market research was a very different world.” Says Katharine Davis, Managing Director of
Ipsos Malaysia. “Malaysia has seen tremendous and rapid growth over the two decades, as has the market research industry, and we are proud to have been a part of this. Ipsos saw the value of Malaysia as a hub very early on so our offices host both regional and global hubs (from online research and advanced analytics, to healthcare solutions and data visualisation), which add value to our local teams. It has been a wonderful and interesting journey, navigating these changes, and helping our clients to do the same.”
With offices around the world, Ipsos has the resources to work both on a global scale and in local markets, with expert teams providing value-added business solutions including qualitative, forecasting, business consulting, modelling, market knowledge and consumer insights.
