Canadians Advocate for Neutrality in Israel-Hamas War 

Canadians appear to feel that Canada shouldn’t take a side in the Israel-Hamas war as four in ten (41%) prefer the country to be a neutral mediator.

Canadians appear to feel that Canada shouldn’t take a side in the Israel-Hamas war as four in ten (41%) prefer the country to be a neutral mediator, while a quarter (23%) believe Canada shouldn’t be involved at all. However, significantly more Canadians aged 18-34 think the country should support the Palestinians (20%), while those aged 55+ are more likely to say they want Canada to support Israel in the war (25%).

Canadians' Support for Ceasefire

Canadians greatest concern is the human cost of the war. Most (81%) Canadians think there should be an immediate ceasefire, while support for a ceasefire drops to 69% when the caveat of releasing hostages is added. Additionally, the majority (87%) of Canadians think that civilians fleeing the fighting in Gaza should be allowed to go to a safe country.
