The Case When Cutting The Lawn: Open Or Closed?
.
The study is being released on the eve of a safety promotion campaign by Mark's Work Wearhouse focusing on steel-toed shoes.
Age seems to be a factor, as one-quarter of adults aged 54 or less (24% for those aged 18 to 34, and 23% for those aged 35-54) have cut grass while wearing open-toed shoes or sandals. This number decreases to just over ten percent (14%) for adults 55 or older.
These are the findings of an Ipsos-Reid poll conducted between May 7th and May 11th, 2003. The poll is based on a randomly selected sample of 1,000 Canadian adults. With a sample of this size, the results are considered accurate to within 177 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20, of what they would have been had the entire adult Canadian population been polled. The margin of error will be larger within regions and for other sub-groupings of the survey population. These data were statistically weighted to ensure the sample's regional and age/sex composition reflects that of the actual Canadian population according to the 2001 Census data.
