Ipsos News | Ipsos Set up Communication and Cognitive Effectiveness Evaluation Research Center with BNU School of Journalism and Communication

Ipsos and School of Journalism and Communication of Beijing Normal University jointly established the Communication and Cognitive Effectiveness Evaluation Research Center (hereafter referred to as the Center) on April 10, 2018. The Center combines academic research, technology development, market application, and is committed to the evaluation of communication effectiveness by the use of cognitive neuroscience technology.

Lifeng Liu, Chairman and CEO of Ipsos China, Weiquan He, Assistant President of Beijing Normal University, Guoming Yu, Executive Director of BNU School of Journalism and Communication, and Xiaohong Wang, Managing Director of Ipsos China attended the inauguration of the Center and launched formal cooperation.

Leveraging the advantages of BNU School of Journalism and Communication in artificial intelligence, journalism and communication, cognitive neuroscience, edit and publishing, media economics, and advertising, and combined with Ipsos resources in brand and media research, quantitative research, big data mining and integration, data collection, data processing and analysis, and user experience research, the Center will conduct professional evaluation on communication effectiveness.

Mr. Weiquan He said that the cooperation between BNU School of Journalism and Communication and Ipsos would deepen the integration of production, study and research, it was all-inclusive, and would lead to first-class performance. Mr. Guoming Yu held that in the times of Internet, profound changes had taken place in social construction, that the research on communications had turned from a macro perspective to individuals, individuality, and communities, and that the establishment of the Center marked a new starting point for the cooperation between the two sides in their endeavor to conduct the best new media research in China.

Mr. Lifeng Liu expressed his best wishes for the Center and the cooperation between both sides. The two sides will conduct in-depth cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence and cognitive neuroscience to evaluate communication effectiveness, and together, train more talents of news dissemination, data mining, and cognitive science for the market. Xiaohong Wang shared Ipsos's theories, tools, research results of cognitive neuroscience, as well as its application in business scenarios, with experts and scholars present at the venue.

BNU School of Journalism and Communication invited Lifeng Liu and Xiaohong Wang to be its part-time professors to organize the design and implementation of research projects. Ipsos invited Professor Guoming Yu to be its Chief Expert, and postdoctoral Jing Shi as its Consultant. The two sides will work together in a down-to-earth manner to create high-end think tanks in the field of communication and neurocognition in China.
