Social Networking and Messaging Trackers December 2019

Highlights from December 2019 Social Networking Tracker: Both LinkedIn and Pinterest recorded increases of 5% for account ownership in December 2019. LinkedIn now holds a 35% account ownership, and Pinterest holds 27%. While TikTok account ownership stands at just 6%, 43% of account owners use it daily. This represents over 90,000 Irish adults aged 15+.

Highlights from December 2019 Social Networking Tracker: 

  • Both LinkedIn and Pinterest recorded increases of 5% for account ownership in December 2019. LinkedIn now holds a 35% account ownership, and Pinterest holds 27%.
  • While TikTok account ownership stands at just 6%, 43% of account owners use it daily. This represents over 90,000 Irish adults aged 15+.

 

*Daily usage figures calculated based on latest Census population data for adults aged 15+ in the Republic of Ireland, using the account ownership and daily usage percentages from the December 2019 infographic. 

This research was conducted as part of Ipsos MRBI’s Omnipoll service which interviews a fresh sample of 1,000 adults in Ireland aged 15+ every two weeks. Respondents were interviewed via telephone in December 2019.

Highlights from December 2019 Social Messaging Tracker: 

  • WhatsApp continues to increase its account ownership, gaining another 5 points to stand at 79%. Meanwhile Viber records a record low of 25% account ownership.
  • Daily usage for WhatsApp stands at 76%, which represents over 2.2 millions adults aged 15+.

    The latest JNLR/Ipsos report into radio listening is published today (7th November 2024). It covers the period from October 2023 to September 2024.

    The latest results show 3.42 million listeners (15+) tune into radio every weekday – that is daily radio listening at 79.5% of all adults. Listening levels in the past week increase to 89.7% of the population.

    A total of c 16,600 people were interviewed during the survey period by Ipsos B&A, on behalf of JNLR.
