Spotlight*KSA: Views On Leisure & Entertainment
Leisure and entertainment in Saudi Arabia are firmly embedded in everyday life, with many going out regularly and actively engaging in a wide range of activities, from dining out and shopping to cinemas, boulevards, and outdoor experiences. Yet this high level of participation sits alongside clear constraints; while half are satisfied with the time they have for leisure, many, particularly younger and lower-income groups, continue to feel short on time, shaping how often and how spontaneously they engage.
Decisions around where to go are grounded in practicality. Affordability and promotions play a central role in decision-making for lower-income groups, while higher-income audiences show greater flexibility, placing relatively more emphasis on experience, variety, and quality alongside value. Entertainment planning is also socially driven, with family and friends playing a central role in how leisure time is spent. At the same time, appetite for variety remains strong: many enjoy exploring experiences beyond their usual preferences and are willing to travel to another city in KSA in search of something new. Together, the findings point to a leisure landscape shaped by balance between routine and discovery, value and aspiration.
