The work we do on the elections surprised me and is super interesting.
Can you introduce/describe yourself in 2 to 3 sentences?
I’m a Data Analyst at Ipsos, specializing in statistical methodology in market research, machine learning and data analytics.
What does a typical day in the life of a Data & Marketing Scientist look like?
In a typical day at Ipsos I use data to build prediction models, design visualizations and provide insights for my clients. What skills are essential for doing your job? Analytical and technical skills are important for doing my job, but communication is perhaps even more important!
Can you give us an example of something you are very proud of in your work?
I’m very proud of the text analysis I do in my work. We can run efficient analytics on text data, such as social media data, to uncover topics and run further analysis.
How would you describe daily life at the office?
The office is a very relaxed place with lots of flexible working areas. Colleagues are free to sit wherever they like, so every day I could sit next to somebody new (or sit alone if I have a lot of work to do). It’s a social place with good coffee and nice people.
What do you like best about working at Ipsos?
I like the variety of projects I get to work on. I enjoy working with lots of different people, in different areas of the business and on different projects. What I also really like about my job is communicating data insights with clients and colleagues.
What are some of the challenges you face in your day-to-day role?
Our clients come in all shapes, sizes, and statistical knowledge. My main challenge is to deliver and visualise understandable results.
What’s been your most memorable moment at Ipsos so far?
My most memorable moment is probably at the beach party!
What’s your favorite part of a working day?
Having catch up meetings with my team keeps met motivated and happy. Especially when stuck at home without much social interaction at work.
How do you stay motivated?
To keep motivated in each day I like to communicate with colleagues. In general I like to keep learning. As long as I feel like I’m learning and being challenged I stay motivated!
Did anything surprise you when you joined Ipsos?
The work we do on the elections surprised me and is super interesting.
Finally, how do you see your career path developing in the future?
I hope to continue to learn about data science, engineering, and analytics. I think there is a lot more to learn and many opportunities at Ipsos.
