BCAMA Announces Ipsos-Reid Selected As "2001 Marketer of the Year"

Innovative Campaign Nets Canada's Largest Market Research Company Distinguished Award

Vancouver, BC, September 5, 2001 - The B.C. Chapter of the American Marketing Association (BCAMA) today announced Ipsos-Reid, Canada's largest market research company, has been selected as "2001 Marketer of the Year". An award ceremony will be held at the Westin Bayshore hotel on October 3, 2001 at 5:30pm to honor this outstanding achievement.

The prestigious Marketer of the Year Award is held annually by the BCAMA and is attended by the industry's top executives across British Columbia. As part of the criteria for nomination, companies must have successfully demonstrated a unique and innovative marketing strategy and must have a head office located in British Columbia. A profile of the company and its founder, Angus Reid, is featured in the September issue of BC Business magazine and can be viewed at: BC Business Magazine

The event will feature a multi-media presentation from Ipsos-Reid's marketing team and its chairman and CEO, Angus Reid, who will offer his insights into growing a British Columbia-based company into a global organization. "We're honored to receive this prestigious award," said Reid who started the company in Winnipeg in 1979. "The award caps an amazing year in which we sold the company, changed brand names, opened a new 330-seat call centre in Edmonton and our 12th office in Washington D.C., and continue to generate record year-over-year increases in sales and profit."

Reid noted that despite the general slowdown in the North American economy, sales for Ipsos-Reid are up more than 30% year-over-year and profits are up by 40% over the same period last year.

Said Steve Mossop, a Senior Vice President and Managing Director at Ipsos-Reid and the author of the company's award submission for the BCAMA, "I'm thrilled to join the likes of HSBC, Telus, Tourism BC, Boston Pizza, and Richmond Savings as this year's recipient of BCAMA's Marketer of the Year. This award clearly demonstrates our ability to execute the 'marketing' aspect of 'marketing research'. This includes our unique way of using media relations as a competitive advantage, our heavy investment in CRM and Direct Mail as a promotional vehicle, and the uniqueness of our product offerings."

The night will also include a three-course sit-down dinner, entertainment and an evening of networking. Ticket prices for the event are $85 for BCAMA members, $110 for non-members, $1,000 for corporate tables of 10, and $35 for student-members. The event typically sells out well in advance, and registration information can be found at: BCAMA
