Leading Research Firm Hires Former Ad Exec As New CFO
Don Miller To Help Lead Ipsos-Reid's North American Growth
Miller will oversee Ipsos-Reid's finance, administration, legal and investor relations activities. As a member of the executive committee, he will also play a key role in helping manage Ipsos-Reid's development in North America through organic growth and strategic acquisitions, and facilitate the company's integration within the Ipsos Group. Ipsos-Reid, formerly the Angus Reid Group, was acquired by Paris-based Ipsos earlier this year. Ipsos is the fastest growing research company in the world and the only one of its size owned and managed by research professionals.
"Don is joining us at an important and exciting time in our evolution from an employee-owned company to membership in a multinational organization," Dr. Reid said. "He has the financial experience and leadership qualities we need to help make us North America's leading and only truly global research company."
Like Ipsos-Reid, Palmer Jarvis was acquired by a major multinational agency group after 28 years as an owner-managed independent company. Dr. Reid noted that Miller has experience in such crucial areas as mergers and acquisitions, and the integration of systems, procedures and financial reporting. While at Palmer Jarvis, Miller managed a major financial accounting systems conversion, a process now underway at Ipsos-Reid.
"This company places a premium on entrepreneurship. We hire people who possess drive, intelligence, and love of a good challenge," Miller said. "Now our goal is to nurture this strong entrepreneurial drive within a much larger group of companies. The great news is that membership in Ipsos offers both staff and clients new and exciting growth opportunities."
Miller's responsibilities as CFO at Ipsos-Reid include all aspects of financial accounting -- including financial reporting and controls, budgeting and forecasting - as well as banking, legal, taxation, compliance, risk management, and participation in strategic planning and implementation planning.
Miller was graduated from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He achieved his CA designation in 1981. Prior to Palmer Jarvis, he was vice-president of finance at Nexus Engineering Corp of Burnaby, B.C., and a senior manager with Ernst & Young Chartered Accountants in Vancouver.
