Families & careers – areas that impact career prospects

Childcare responsibility is more damaging for women’s career (32%) than both (20%).

Commenting on the findings, Amit Adarkar, CEO, Ipsos India said, "Caring for a child or the elderly, requires some level of commitment, and it is natural for employees to feel somewhat frustrated at not being able to juggle roles with dexterity. One needs a good support system to be able to focus on work. And workplaces are extremely competitive and there is the FOMO feeling. Post pandemic, with hybrid working conditions, the impact may have slightly reduced. But now with reopening, it is back to normal."

Equal rights for women

3 in 4 urban Indians (72%) believe things have gone far in India in providing women equal rights with men. Global citizens display polarized views.

Interestingly, 3 in 4 urban Indians (72%) believe enough women in leadership roles in business and govt, bode well for achieving equality of women with men.
