Spotlight*KSA: Travelers' Behaviour and Attitudes - Domestic Travel and Staycations Edition
People across Saudi Arabia engage with domestic travel in ways that blend convenience, connection and value. More than half take local trips several times a year, often choosing quick and accessible getaways that fit easily into their routines. These trips are driven by practical priorities: around 3 in 10 base their destination choices on how family-friendly and affordable a place is, underscoring the importance of comfort and shared experiences. Travel planning is shaped by close circles and digital influence; friends and family remain the leading source of recommendations, followed closely by social media platforms.
Staycations also play a meaningful role, offering a chance to unwind, recharge or spend quality time close to home. Yet the data reveals clear expectations: while many appreciate the simplicity of staying nearby, nearly 4 in 10 say staycations don’t offer the same excitement or adventure they get from traveling to a new place, signaling a desire for more engaging, memorable experiences even within familiar surroundings.
