Harvey's Ipsos Reid Survey

Vancouver, BC - According to a recent Harvey's survey conducted by Ipsos Reid, 61% of Canadians say they order the exact same toppings every single time they eat a burger, while 39% say they tend switch up their order.

Sixty-six per cent of Canadians order fries when they order a burger, with another 12% saying they order both fries and a drink when they order a burger. Just 22% don't order fries when they order a burger.

Almost one-half of all Canadians (48%) say they ate a hamburger in the last week and 63% normally eat burgers with family while 24% tend to eat burgers with their friends. Just 13% say they normally eat burgers alone.

The three most popular choices for burger toppings are cheese, onions and ketchup. Sixty-three percent of Canadians rank cheese as one of their three favourite toppings followed by 37% for onions and 36% for ketchup.

The survey was conducted by Ipsos-Reid on behalf of Harvey's from April 13th to April 17th, 2007. For this research, a representative sample of 1,045 Canadians was interviewed through an online survey using the Ipsos Reid Canadian Online Omnibus. Results are considered accurate to within +/- 3.1%, 19 times out of 20 of what they would have been had the entire adult Canadian population been polled. The margin of error is larger within regions and for other sub-groupings of the survey population.

These data were weighted to ensure the sample's regional and age/sex composition reflects that of the actual Canadian population according to the 2001 Census data.
