Ipsos NZ Health Services Report 2024

The Ipsos Global Health Service Monitor has been run on a regular basis in around 30 markets globally since 2018. The survey was conducted in New Zealand for the first time in 2023 and this year, it includes a sample of n=1,000 New Zealanders. Fieldwork was conducted between 26 July and 9 August 2024.

New Zealanders' Views on Mental Health

Wellington, 22 November 2023 – Significantly more New Zealanders now believe the current healthcare system treats mental health as being equally important as physical health. The proportion who believe physical health is treated as more important was 43%, significantly down from 59% in 2022. This puts New Zealand on par with the global country average.

New Zealanders are thinking about their mental wellbeing more often than a year ago, however still less than they think about their physical wellbeing. New Zealand males are less likely to think about their mental health than females, who are above the global average.
