Ipsos resumes face-to-face fieldwork
Today, Friday 3 July, Ipsos announces a return to large-scale face-to-face fieldwork. Following months of extensive preparatory work and a successful proof of concept trial, Ipsos are ready to carry out COVID-19 safe face-to-face interviews.
The trial that was put in place to test new data collection modes and end-to-end processes was highly successful. The majority of participants interviewed were very responsive to Ipsos field workers knocking on their doors and the new safety measures put in place which incorporate both MRS and the latest government guidelines ensured both staff and participants felt at ease during the process. The new safety measures include:
- A COVID-19 safe health screening questionnaire for interviewers and participants
- Interviewers attend a new comprehensive training on COVID-19 safe interviewing and appropriate use of PPE
- No fieldwork staff will enter participants’ homes
- Maintaining social distancing measures at all times
- Providing participants with a leaflet around our COVID-19 safe methods in advance of the interview
- Using hand sanitiser and gloves before providing participants with any materials
Our data collection modes have evolved, meaning we can now successfully administer the following:
- Socially distant doorstep interviews
- Interviewer administered telephone interviews
- Interviewer administered video interviews
Lisa Hazelden, Managing Director Face-to-Face Field Ipsos, says:
We are very excited to be going back out into the field. Our interviewers are raring to go and we have incorporated best practice from across the world to develop our new ways of working. The health and welfare of our staff and the public are paramount, and we feel confident in the new safety measures we have in place. This is the culmination of months of brilliant work by a dedicated and innovative team, working closely in partnership with our stakeholders so we can once again deliver gold standard research in the field.
