Cardiff University/MORI Research For Burns Commission Gives Detailed Insight Into Rural Life
A research report released today (2 May) by Cardiff University - based on interviews conducted by MORI - gives a detailed insight into views of hunting with dogs in four selected rural communities, all centred around individual hunts.
The survey found that just over half (52%) wished hunting to continue, with the remainder either opposed (25%) or neutral. However, only a quarter (25%) felt hunting played an important part in their day-to-day life.
In all 619 interviews were conducted across the four areas (representing small areas within Powys, Cumbria, Exmoor and Leicestershire) between 11 March - 8 April 2000, and 48 follow-up interviews probed peoples' attitudes in more depth.
The full report can be viewed at www.huntinginquiry.gov.uk, and is referred to there as 'Contract 4 - Social and Cultural aspects' in the Research/Research reports section.
