Children's participation in culture and sport
Quantitative research with school pupils aged 11-18 years exploring their participation in culture and sport.
Ipsos was commissioned by the Europe, External Affairs and Culture Directorate of the Scottish Government to conduct a survey of secondary school pupils exploring their participation in culture and sport in order to complement the findings of the Scottish Household Survey on adult participation. The survey was conducted using Ipsos Scotland’s Schools Omnibus, an annual survey of secondary school pupils aged 11-18.
Technical details
The survey was administered using self-completion questionnaires in a mixed ability class such as Personal Social Education or Religious Education during one classroom period. 213 schools were approached to take part in the survey and 50 agreed, giving a response rate of 23%. Fully completed questionnaires were obtained from 2,221 pupils.
