Brits calling for a Royal Performance: Public eyeing Regal Acts for Glastonbury Stage
Queen, Prince and even the King himself (yes, Elvis) among Britain’s top choices in vote for who they would like to see headline at Glastonbury.
Following the announcement of this year’s headline acts at the iconic Glastonbury festival, Ipsos Observer decided to turn to the Great British Public to ask who they’d most like to see take to the famous Pyramid Stage.
Using our fast-turnaround online omnibus research service, we asked the nation to tell us their dream acts, dead or alive, and then took the most popular spontaneously mentioned acts – including those who would be entertaining us from beyond the grave - and asked the public to vote on which acts they’d most like to see.
The music-loving nation appears to be (Radio) Ga Ga for Queen, with a third (33%) of those polled saying they’d like this act headline. The Beatles twisted and shouted to second-spot (18%), and Michael Jackson moonwalked in to third place (16%). Also among the top answers were acts that would make Glastonbury into a rather royal rendezvous, with those Dancing Queens ABBA (15%), King of Rock 'n' Roll Elvis (14%) and Prince, the Purple One himself (7%) among the acts that Brits mentioned when asked who they’d like to see play.
