The Department of Health has released the latest Ipsos research looking at the overall state of the NHS in the eyes of patients and the public for 2006.

These surveys follow on from a series conducted by the Ipsos Social Research Institute for the Department of Health since Spring 2000. The aim of the study is to explore public attitudes towards, and perceptions of, the NHS. In addition, the surveys provide a means of tracking these perceptions over time. The results of this study, taken in combination with other work Ipsos is doing for the Department of Health, is aimed at forming an overall picture of the Department and the NHS as a whole.
Technical note
Public Perceptions of the NHS Survey: Results are based on c.1,000 interviews conducted among a representative sample of English adults, aged 16+ between 13 June - 9 July 2006 and 10 November - 3 December 2006. Interviews were conducted face-to-face in respondents' homes. Data are weighted to the known population profile.
