Top Rating For East Lothian As A Place To Live
Ninety eight per cent of local people think East Lothian is a good place to live according to a recent survey carried out by Ipsos Scotland.
The results show that more than 70 per cent of respondents are satisfied with the way East Lothian Council is running the area and that most people think the Council offers a good range of services.
When the survey asked residents about the attitudes of Council staff, 82 per cent of those who had contacted the Council found that staff were helpful and 90 per cent thought they were friendly.
Residents were also asked to rate their satisfaction with a number of key council services. Those that fared best were local libraries, refuse collection, parks and open spaces, swimming pools and sports centres, street cleaning and public toilets.
Technical details
The survey was commissioned by East Lothian Council and carried out between May and July 2005 in the form of face-to-face interviews with a representative sample of 1,431 residents.
