Understanding public attitudes to social care funding reform in England
People don’t understand how social care is currently funded, which makes discussing future options challenging.
A new Ipsos report, prepared for the Health Foundation and The King’s Fund, explores public attitudes to social care funding reform in England.
The report summarises findings from six full-day deliberative workshops with members of the public conducted in London, Kings Lynn and Leeds, as well as 10 in-depth interviews with users of social care. Discussions focused on four key issues: perceptions of the social care system, key priorities and principles for social care funding, potential options for social care funding reform, and features of a better system.
The report forms part of a bigger piece of work conducted by the Health Foundation and the King’s Fund. A report on this broader work is available on the Health Foundation website.
