Ipsos/ Reuters Poll: Quarterback Primary

Washington, DC - While he may not be in the Super Bowl, Denver Bronco's quarterback Tim Tebow is the favorite of the American Public to be president among all the NFL playoff quarterbacks.

The new Reuters-Ipsos online poll of the American public asked Americans which NFL playoff quarterback they would choose for president of the United States. Of the twelve contenders, over a quarter (26%) selected Tim Tebow as their choice.

  • Super Bowl contenders Eli Manning (18%) and Tom Brady (17%) were runners up in this contest, even while their teams still play on Sunday.

These are findings from an Ipsos poll conducted for Thomson Reuters from January 30th - February 3rd, 2012. For the survey, a sample of 2475 Americans was interviewed online. The precision of the Reuters/Ipsos online polls is measured using a credibility interval. In this case, the poll has a credibility interval of plus or minus 2.3 percentage points for all respondents. For more information about credibility intervals, please see the appendix.

The data were weighted to the U.S. current population data by gender, age, education, ethnicity and a political values scale. Statistical margins of error are not applicable to online polls. All sample surveys and polls may be subject to other sources of error, including, but not limited to coverage error and measurement error. Figures marked by an asterisk (*) indicate a percentage value of greater than zero but less than one half of a per cent. Where figures do not sum to 100, this is due to the effects of rounding.
