A Quarter of Americans Expect a Less Gendered Future
New York, NY, January 14, 2020 — A quarter of Americans predict the country will be less gendered in five years, according to a new global survey by Ipsos. At the same time, one in ten Americans think gender roles in the nation will be even more ingrained. Their perceptions mirror the global average.
The results anchor a new report from Ipsos that delves into the global public opinion about the future of gender. In it, Ipsos asks more than 20,000 people in 29 countries about whether people think their country will be more or less gendered in the future.
The report, the latest in Ipsos’ award-winning What the Future series, also looks at masculinity, representations of women in the media, and the gendered marketing of products from toys to fashion. The full report can be viewed at https://future.ipsos.com/what-the-future.
