Ipsos Core Political : Presidential Approval Tracker (07/13/2022)

Washington, DC, July 13, 2022 – This week’s Ipsos Core Political has President Biden with a 39% approval rating as the economy remains the country’s most important problem.

The economy (32%) remains the country’s most important problem, followed by crime or corruption (10%) and the environment (7%). While all partisans agree on the top two issues, the economy and crime, Republicans are more concerned about immigration (10%) than the environment (2%). Among those who mention other issues, the most commonly mentioned topics include gun violence and inflation.

President Biden’s approval rating is at 39% this week, with 55% disapproving.

Just under three-quarters of Democrats (74%) approve of Biden’s work in office, but only 31% of independents and 12% of Republicans approve.

About the Study

These are some of the findings of an Ipsos poll conducted between July 11-12, 2022. For this survey, a sample of 1,004 Americans age 18+ from the continental U.S., Alaska, and Hawaii were interviewed online in English. The sample includes 418 Democrats, 365 Republicans, and 148 independents. Weighting was then employed to balance demographics to ensure that the sample's composition reflects that of the adult population according to Census data and to provide results intended to approximate the sample universe. The precision of Ipsos online polls is measured using a credibility interval. In this case, the poll is accurate to within ± 3.8 percentage points, 19 times out of 20, had all Americans been polled. The credibility interval will be wider among subsets of the population. All sample surveys and polls may be subject to other sources of error, including but not limited to coverage error and measurement error. The poll also has a credibility interval of ± 5.9 percentage points for Democrats, ± 6.3 percentage points for Republicans, and ± 9.9 percentage points for independents.
