Attitudes towards Pensions

Online research exploring possible effects of tax rule changes on the public's perceptions around pensions

Six in ten (61%) non-retired UK adults agree they would be more confident making long-term financial plans for retirement if they believed pension tax rules were unlikely to change significantly in the future, with just 6% disagreeing, according to new research commissioned by St. James’s Place (SJP).

Technical note

Ipsos interviewed a representative quota sample of 2,209 adults aged 18-75 in the UK using its online i:omnibus between 28 August and 1 September 2026. The sample obtained is representative of this population, with quotas on age, gender, region and working status. The sample includes 1,821 respondents who are not retired.
