Ipsos was commissioned by the Babraham Institute, Sciencewise, and the Biotechnology and Biological Science Research Council (BBSRC) to investigate public attitudes towards the future strategy of the Babraham Institute.
The research was conducted to feed into the Babraham Institute’s science and public engagement strategy 2017-22.
Ipsos carried out 2 day-long public dialogue events in Cambridge and Birmingham and reconvened all participants to another day-long event in Cambridge. A total number of forty-two members of the public attended, recruited to reflect a balanced sample of the lay public.
Babraham Institute scientists were involved throughout, helping frame the discussions and co-designing stimulus materials, which were based on the work of the Institute and designed to elicit discussions of strategic and public engagement principles.
Scientists attended all sessions and engaged with the public.
An Advisory Group also had input into the project development and a wider stakeholder group contributed their views to preparing balanced materials.
