It was also found that almost half (49%) of Labour MPs turned to Guardian Unlimited as their online newspaper of choice.

Asked over this summer, "Which Internet news site have you used in the past month?" 40% replied Guardian Unlimited. The award-winning network proved overwhelmingly more popular than The-Times.co.uk (22%), Telegraph.co.uk (18%) and Independent.co.uk (13%).

Guardian Unlimited combines the authority and wit of the Guardian with the immediacy and interactivity of the net. Its own dedicated political website, Guardian Unlimited Politics, (guardian.co.uk/politics) provides breaking news, exclusive political commentary, analysis, games, gossip, a daily email service: "the backbencher", and 'Aristotle', a unique database of political information.

Guardian Unlimited Politics is also providing its own SMS Guardian Unlimited Is MPs' Favourite Newspaper Website service for mobile phone users at this week's Labour party conference.
