A recent Ipsos omnibus survey, published by Kingsmill, has found that almost half of parents in Britain would welcome more information about healthy eating for children 'a great deal' (45%). Moreover, more than four in five parents would welcome this 'at least a little'.

The importance of feeding children a healthy diet is not one taken lightly by parents -- almost all parents consider it important that their children eat a healthy balanced diet (97%). But not all parents find feeding their children a healthy diet as simple as they would like, with a quarter of parents saying that on an average day they find it difficult to get their children to eat healthy foods (24%).

While a higher proportion of parents find it easy rather than difficult to get their children to eat healthy foods (64% v. 24%), two in five parents say that they find it 'fairly easy' (40%).

Technical Note

Questions were placed on one wave of the Ipsos face-to-face Omnibus, the regular Ipsos survey among the general public. A nationally representative quota sample of 619 parents (aged 15+), were interviewed throughout Great Britain by Ipsos in 188 different sampling points. Interviewing took place during 20-24 July 2006. All interviews were conducted face to face in respondents' homes, using CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing).
