MORI Scotland's annual survey of Members of the Scottish Parliament has come up with some timely findings. On the day that Henry McLeish (First Minister for Scotland) submitted his resignation, MORI Scotland were able to reveal who MSPs think is a 'hot contender' as a replacement.

Three in ten (29%) of Members interviewed (across all parties) highlight Jack McConnell as being the most outstanding prospect among the Members of the Scottish Parliament, followed by Angus Mckay, Tavish Scott and Murray Tosh respectively. Jack McConnell topped the list in 2000 as well.

MORI Scotland interviewed 72 Members of the Scottish Parliament, face-to-face, between 3rd September and the 31st October 2001. An asterisk (*) denotes a figure of less than half of one percent, but not zero. Where results do not sum to 100, this may be due to computer rounding, multiple responses or the exclusion of don't know categories
