Hunting - To Ban Or Not To Ban
A recent MORI poll found that seven in ten (71%) agree that hunting with hounds should be banned.
In terms of individual species, most people strongly support a ban on hunting Deer (67%), Fox (58%), Hare (56%) and Mink (55%).
As an alternative to hunting live animals, drag hunting is supported by eight in ten (81%) with 64% strongly endorsing this.
Around three quarters (72%), disagree that hunting is necessary to control fox numbers, and two thirds (66%) disagree that hunting with hounds is an important part of the rural economy.
Attitudes to Michael Foster's Private Members' Bill reflect the Public's view on hunting generally. Almost seven in ten (68%) wish to see it become law, while 16% are opposed.

MORI interviewed a nationally representative sample of 1,000 adults aged 18+, by telephone, between 2-5 July 1997 throughout Great Britain.
